It was through John Denver's songs, beginning with "the Wings that fly us home", that I truly began to learn American Sign Language. My dream was to sign for him on stage. The closest I ever came was when I interpreted the 2002 Olympic torch relay ceremony in Aspen, CO and we sang "Rocky Mt. High". If JD had been alive he would have been there; but we know he was looking down on us that day and singing along.
